It’s a miracle not to see Robert Saleh‘s beard turn gray with another flunk by the New York Jets offense. They continue to dominate their opponents with no end product.

Zach Wilson appeared to be having a better game last night after one of his worst games the previous week against the Blue Half of New York. He was attempting no-look passes, which shows how confident he appeared. But at the end of the day, the final result matters the most.

Trailing the Las Vegas Raiders by 12-16 in the fourth quarter, Wilson threaded the needle to pick out tight end Tyler Conklin right in the middle of the field. After gathering the ball, he quickly went to place it back so they could resume play.

The Jets still had one time-out left, and they decided to take it. But here’s the problem: until the referee gave the signal to stop the clock, almost 8 seconds had passed by. This ticked Robert Saleh off, and he was screaming at the officials on the sidelines.

The camera panned towards the dugout and captured the Jets head coach saying,

I called it at 20! What the fu**?

Robert Saleh defended Zach Wilson’s performance against the Las Vegas Raiders

If there’s one person who continues to come to the aid of Wilson, it’s his coach. Despite the intense scrutiny from all corners, Saleh keeps his faith despite veteran Trevor Siemian waiting in the wings for a chance.

It was no different after the Raiders game as well. He was impressed with the former first-round pick’s tenacity till the end. Wilson went for the Hail Mary twice.

On 1st and 10, he launched one aiming at Xavier Gipson, but the pass went out of bounds. As the clock struck 0, he went for a second try in triple coverage inside the Vegas endzone. Unfortunately, neither Conklin nor Garrett Wilson failed to hold on, and the game ended.

I thought he did alright. There's obviously a couple plays that I'm sure he wants back. He moved around the pocket really well. Did some good yards with his legs. To give a full assessment of Zach, I think it will be fair to ask everyone around him to play a little bit better. Overall, I think he did well.

Zach Wilson ended the game with 23-of-39 for 263 passing yards, no touchdowns, and one interception. He also used his legs to gain 54 yards on the ground. Next, it’s a trip to Orchard Park to face AFC East rivals the Buffalo Bills.
