Second fire sparks north of Avimor, Highway 55 back open

BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) All lanes of Highway 55 are back open after being closed due to a grass fire near Avimor. There will be fire crews in the area overnight according to Eagle Fire. Eagle Fire crews are battling yet another fire that is affecting Highway 55.

Eagle Fire crews are battling yet another fire that is affecting Highway 55.

Crews worked late into Wednesday evening to contain a fire that sparked after a vehicle caught fire near Horseshoe Bend Hill, causing a closure from there to Avimor.

Thursday, a new fire has sparked not far from the previous one, roughly two miles north of Avimor, according to Eagle Fire. Highway 55 has been closed since roughly 4:00 pm as crews work to contain the grass fire. Northbound lanes on Highway 55 have reopened, though southbound lanes remain closed until at least 6:30.

Please use extreme caution in the area, fire crews are continuing to work in the area.
