Richard Childers Racing came into the 2024 NASCAR Cup season with the hopes of redemption after bottling a strong start with three wins last season. But their hopes and dreams hasn’t materialized yet, as both their driver Kyle Buch and Austin Dillon are struggling to pull-off any strong finishes, with the main reason being the cars poor performance.
NASCAR commentator Jeff Hammond has recently shared his verdict on the performance of RCR and its drivers. He asserted that Kyle Busch has to find the breath of fresh air to get out of the trouble. Hammond reckons at the moment nothing is going in for the RCR driver at the top level of the Cup series.
They looked so good and Kyle Busch looked like he had found a new breath of fresh air there at RCR. They just have not got on track no matter whether it's Kyle or whether it's Austin Dillon. I mean they just have not got anything going, especially at the Cup level.Jeff Hammond said via GoPRNLive.
He went onto point out that there is no way for RCR to get back on top the regular way and they need to pull off a miracle to save their 2024 season. If they are able to do that, it would be catalyst they need to succeed in the future.
But the Cup level, it's going to take a miracle, it's going to take somebody pulling a rabbit out of their hat, getting a win to get RCR at least a brief moment in the playoffs.Jeff Hammond added.
Jeff Hammond isn’t concerned about RCR’s Xfinity side
While the RCR Cup team is struggling, their Xfinity team is having strong season as usual. Austin Hill and Jesse Love has been exceeding expectations with their performance, placing them in a position to give a strong challenge for the title.
As far as Xfinity is concerned, look out, they're dangerous, they'll be dangerous all the way through the end of the year.Jeff Hammond said.
So, the season is going to be mixed for RCR, but there is still hope of playoff entry at the Cup level. With Busch’s eight race top-5 less finish streak and Dillon having not a single top-5 finish in 2024, Daytona might be their only hope at progressing.
